If you enjoy knitting or crocheting as a way of serving others, you are invited to join Knit Crochet and Pray as we make scarves, hats, mittens, baby blankets and booties, prayer shawls, and Peace Pal dolls. All items are donated to agencies who serve those in need. Some go to recipients right in our county; others go to faraway places across the world.
Until COVID, this group met monthly in the church’s south wing to collect our handmade items. After a prayer of blessing over the items for the unknown recipients, we made arrangements to distribute our donations both locally and internationally. Though we have not met since the pandemic, we continue to make needed items, pray for recipients, and see that the items get to those in need. We hope to return to in-person meeting soon! If you would like more information, please email Karen Douds at douds2@comcast.net.
Despite the pandemic Knit Crochet & Pray continues our outreach needlework. In October we had a remarkably successful mammogram reminder campaign through our dishcloth project. Almost two hundred dishcloth/mammogram reminders were distributed. Since then, we have been focused on items for Lebanon Family Health Services. Donations such as new baby blankets, bibs, booties, and mittens, scarves, and hats for all ages have been requested. You can bring your handmade or purchased items to the church parking lot on the morning of Dec. 4th. Sign up at the Welcome desk or by contacting Karen Douds to receive a half dozen doughnuts as a thank you.
