Small Group Studies

Do you have prefect knowledge of God, revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit? Of course not,
none of us do! That’s why Christian education is a lifelong experience. Our small study groups are
designed to help us more fully understand the faith. There are several different groups at First Church that
you can choose from including: Our Sunday Adult study group, which meets each week in Fellowship Hall at 10:30 AM, discusses the Christians perspective on the news events of the day. Lee Smedley facilitates the group using material called “The Wired Word.” The material draws from the news of the week and looks at the issues from a Christian perspective. The lesson is published via email on Thursday for use on Sunday. To keep up on the topics and receive a copy of the materials for each Sunday, contact Lee at and he will add you to his distribution list so you are ready to participate in the discissions.

The Blessed Misfits, our midweek group, meets each Wednesday at 6:30 PM in the South Wing and via Zoom for those who prefer remote learning or for other reasons are unable to meet in person. The topics rotate between various books of interest to the group. The group is currently working on a book called “Conspiracy of Kindness”, but will shortly move on to a new topic likely to be related to either Advent or Christmas. Each book last between 4 and 10 weeks with most being in the 6-to-8 week range. For more information about the Blessed Misfits, watch the weekly bulletins or simply contact Pastor Jim at or call Heidi in the church office at 717-838-2551.

There is also a Tuesday Woman’s Study Group that meets via Zoom. The contact person for this group is
Eileen Fox who can be contacted at
